Making Money online as a Webmaster sounds easy enough, I did considered all aspects and find that it may not be that easy, thats why I gave myself a long period of time to achieve what I had planned.

It is a pity my existing commitment caused me to drop this project for the past few months.   I am now relaunching the initiative again.   Making money as a Webmaster proves to be far harder than what it seemed to be.   This time round I guess I need to work far harder to achieve what I had targeted.

Till now I had only managed about US$200/mth constant income which is still a far cry of what I had aimed for.   Still exploring the countless opportunities and traps and hopefully I am able to strike one!

The success and failure of a forum often depends on the topic of a forum. Bear in mind that popular topics normally have a great deal of forums serving them. It is often not easy to penetrate such markets as these forums normally have a huge audience and are well established.

Dead topics are as it is, dead and hence even if you setup a forum for such a topic, you will expect near zero activity. So what are we suppose to do? The important thing is to determine which are the popular topics and also check that these topics are not a fad and are here to last. Do not take upon the big boys. Concentrate on a niche in the topic that you know best. From there concentrate on the niche, ensure that your niche forum has much better information than normal popular forums. In this way, specialization is the key to your success. Once you are specialized, you will find that those members who are keen or interested or are expert in that particular niche tends to visit your site. Instead of being a huge forum with plenty of general posts, you have a specialized small forums with good and detailed posts which can attract visitors just the same.

A forum is one of the latest to start, because it is typically a chicken and egg issue.   Forums can only be popular if there are many regular posters but to have regular posters you need to have good posts that are already there for discussion.

3. Getting a Professional Forum Posting service
4. Exchanging posts with Other Forums
5. Syndicating Posts from relevant sources elsewhere

Even all these above aren’t enough, it takes constant efforts on the side of the forum owners to enable the growth of the forum till it can self attract users and to maintain a critical membership mass.

But forums once they established a critical mass can be self sustaining without much interference from the owners and as it is dynamic content, it can attract considerable Advertising interest and hence regular income for the Forum Owners.

IMHO forums are the best and most consistent source of revenue in making money online.   Forums make use of others’ creativity and knowledge in that they post in your forums and the forum owner gets the advantage of having all the posts.

Consider this one thread is one page and one post in the thread is one page.  Configured and with good Search Engine Optimization, a forum typically captures the most traffic if its content is relevant and it is well maintained without the typically spams and scams.

I had joined KIVA and had used some of the money I earned every month from this project to finance the micro loans in the Kiva Web Site.   I find that while earning money is important in this project, we must never never forget corporate responsibilities.

I am earning not much online even at this moment, but I put in whatever I can to help out the KIVA micro entrepreneurs.   I hope that those with much larger means and abilities, do help out KIVA.   $25 to you may mean nothing but it may be a turning point for a poor entrepreneur in the third world countries, you may be able to change the lifes of some of these people for the better.

Given that we aren’t Bill Gates, we do not have such financial might to influence millions of people and bright them light, what we can do is to use our feeble candle lights to light up the lives of the few which we can help.  Those reading this message do go to KIVA, signed up and help them if possible or spread the message about KIVA.

I do find that the Blog Network Approach is an easy and consistent way to make money but I find the conventional way of automatically creating hundreds of blogs and posting them all at one shot with one content a big problem.

This will be perceived as spams and duplicate web sites by the search engines such as Google, hence their effectiveness would be diminished a lot. Clients look for value, if this is what they see, they will not buy in after sometime.

My approach is to create a Blog Network of Unique Content. Hiring writers from other parts of the world where wages are lesser to develop a network which the writers can post normally and independently. When an order comes, the advertising post is then post to all the blogs. This will ensure unique content for all blogs so that the advertising post can gain far more benefits.

Also such an approach would meant higher PR for the blogs as time goes along. The prices that can be charged per post can be higher. Monetization of the blog rolls and paid links enable a recurring income. This approach would not cost much money as getting a few different web hosting packages and assigning writers to a few blogs each will be safe. This is one of the projects I am starting.

Why the chance of plans?  Shouldn’t my plans be constant?  Actually from the start I had meant it to be a constant.   But change of plans without sacrificing the principles that means without coming out a cent by making use of the money I have earned online does not break my stance on this project of earning all online.

To make a defensive stance, it is said that Nothing is Constant in the World except Change, guess we need to adjust the plan a bit for much bigger gains in the future.

I remembered when I first started the project, I resolved to use not a single cent of my own money.  Domain registration for 1 year was free with Register.com promotion and 000webhost.com provides good free hosting.

But all these have change, we have earned some money and have transferred away from Register.com to renew the domain for one more year.  Reason being despite Register.com impressive services, we prefer a cheap one to keep in budget.

Second being we bought a 4 1/2 year hosting at an extremely great bargain.  Maybe I will leave this out for the time being :).   Keeping you guys in suspense.

One thing that is certain is that all money spend were generated out from our online earnings.   I believe with the money spend, we would be able to add more functions to our online business and grow faster and reach our goals safely.

I guess a lot of us have seen the Top 10 Hosting Lists, basically all the top 10 are listed because they offered the best affiliate hosting fees and not because they are the best in their categories.

But why are there so many of these Top 10 lists?   Basically they are profitable thats why!  A sales from an affiliate can be about USD 65.   A few such sales a day can really adds up.  This is the primary objective in the setup of such lists.

But this is not all, setting up such lists require a lot of promotions, such lists tend to have high Page Rank, which gives it another constant revenue.  That of selling of text links or banners.   Such sales can be monthly payment meaning that every month the revenue from the sales of such links are there for the web site owner.

Something even better, such links are a niche link, the web hosting niche, which is an extremely popular niche and their text links as well as banners can fetch much higher pricing.

Therefore a successful Top 10 list can generate both affiliate sales profits as well as constant stream of advertising profits.   It isn’t easy, a lot of work is needed to give a Top 10 list a good PR, but once you reach that stage, the money comes in easily.

You can earn money online using Blog Networks.   Blog Networks are a number of blogs say a few hundred of them.   These are connected so that the user can post to all of them at one shot.

There are a lot of programs to create hundreds of blogs at one time.  So how does it makes money.   Ok basically back links are important for Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short.   Therefore Blog Networks strive to sell upon that.

The typical mode of operations is that the buyer submit an article or the Blog Network owners can write the article for the buyer.  Inside the article will contain a few links that the buyer wants to increase the back links of.   So the Blog Network owners will submit the article to all their blogs.  Imagine say 1000 blogs with 3 links in the article will mean 3000 back links for the buyer.   The Blog Network owners charge a fees for each article.

For Blog Networks with a lot of blogs and good PR blogs, they can charge more money so this is one good and easy way to make money online.
